Warichu Ruby
for Adobe Illustrator
Create ruby annotations
using Adobe Illustrator's
warichu feature
Warichu Ruby is an extension that uses Adobe Illustrator's warichu feature to create ruby annotations.
Ruby annotations —simply called ruby
in Japan— are used often in Japanese manga speech bubbles to indicate the pronunciation of kanji characters.
Ideally, ruby should be attached to the base text and move with it as the text is edited.
Adobe Illustrator does not have a built-in ruby creation feature, making this difficult to achieve, but Warichu Ruby makes it possible to create this in a few easy steps.
-
Create ruby with aligned baselines
Just select the word you want to add ruby to and enter an annotation, and you can create ruby.
-
Supports both group ruby and mono ruby
You can easily create mono ruby, which is difficult to create manually using the warichu feature.
-
Automatic generation and automatic application of character styles for ruby
If you use character styles, you can apply them all at once after creating ruby, for example if you want to use different fonts for ruby and base texts.
Features
- Settings for creating ruby can be changed
- Settings for creating ruby are remembered even after restarting the app
- Specify the ruby size range to create ruby of appropriate size from title to caption
- Multiple modes for using/not using character styles and naming standards
